Teachers open the classroom doors at 8:30 AM/12:30 PM signaling the start of class. Parents are asked to walk their child into class and assist with hand-washing.
Manipulatives, objects that allow students to explore an idea with a hands-on approach, will be available at the tables for the children while we wait for all to arrive.
Center time - Free play in the classroom, opportunity to use iPad, computers, smart cycle, etc. The teacher and aide will do one-on-one work with each child.
Language time - The theme of the month is covered thru a story and activity.
Bible time - Story and hands-on activity.
Recess - out/indoor playground.
Snack - all snacks are DCFS approved. Each family will be asked to provide snack approximately once a month.
Parent Pick up - Parents will form a line and the children will be brought out to the cars at 11:25 AM/3:25 PM. Pick-up lasts until 11:35 AM/3:35 PM.

Our goal is to meet your child’s developmental needs. Therefore, class sizes are purposely small with a maximum of 10 students per class The teaching style is specifically designed with a combination of active learning, quiet learning and creative play. No matter what your child’s individual learning preference, his/her needs will be met.

From the floor plan, to the indoor playground, to the artwork – everything in our facility is specifically designed for preschool children! Discovery Christian Preschool is naturally inviting, so children feel immediately at home, and parents feel immediately at ease! We also promote family involvement in your child’s learning process. Parents may accompany the child in the class, participate in fields trips, and attend seasonal parties and programs. Parents are always welcome!!
Sign-In-Book
This book is located on the counter as you enter the indoor playground. Sign your child’s name, drop-off time, and initial. Since we bring the children out to you for pickup you will only need to sign your child out on days when they are picked up early.
Indoor Playground
Before the classrooms open at 8:30 and at other times throughout the day, children will be allowed to pay in our indoor playground. A list of playground rules will be given to you. Please help us enforce these rules in order to keep all of our children safe! Playground toys are rotated on a weekly basis. Students will use the outdoor playground when the weather permits.
Coat Cubbbies
Each child will be assigned their own coat cubby that will have their name on it. These are located outside each classroom. This is where they will place their coats as well as their backpacks. Students are asked to bring a full-size backpack so that papers and projects can be put in without having to be folded up too much. Also, include a change of clothes in the backpack in case of spills or accidents, etc.
Calendar and Newsletter
A yearly calendar with all events will be provided to parents as well as a monthly calendar/newsletter that will be sent home in your child’s backpack each month.
